Customer needs

Our customer dreams of an authentic Porsche 911 Targa that embodies the classic character of the legendary G-model. He is particularly enthusiastic about the iconic design of this early generation, which is why the vehicle should remain as close as possible to this style in terms of appearance. At the same time, the car should offer the open-top driving pleasure of a Targa – stylish, unadulterated, and with a touch of nostalgia.

Despite his love for classic looks, the customer wants modern and sporty performance. The technology under the hood should be powerful, reliable, and state-of-the-art—for example, with a revised chassis, a powerful engine, and the latest safety and comfort systems. The result is a harmonious blend of classic car charm and contemporary performance.

The customer wants a customised interior design that reflects his personal preferences and feels high-quality – with attention to detail and top-notch materials. The car will be used not only for Sunday drives around Berlin, but also for relaxed holiday trips to Italy. The budget is around EUR 189,000, including the base vehicle.

Our proposal

Our suggestion for the desired classic car is a Porsche Carrera 3.2 Targa with the modern and robust G50 transmission. This model combines the charming character of the G-model with noticeably improved shifting comfort. Visually, the vehicle is inspired by the earlier F-model aesthetics — supported by carefully selected chrome details such as the roll bar, mirrors, and trim. The paint in Baltic Blue Metallic gives the car an elegant, timeless appearance. Inside, the customer will find an exclusive interior in Luxor Beige, complemented by a stylish Nardi wooden steering wheel.

The Carrera 3.2 series offers many advantages: As the final development stage of the G-model, it is particularly refined, reliable, and durable. Thanks to its wide availability on the market, individual customization requests can be easily implemented. The vehicle delivers an authentic, classic driving experience with the typical character of an “Elfer” (911), while still offering comfort through options like air conditioning, seat heating, and power windows. Operating costs are moderate compared to newer models — ideal for occasional trips or weekend drives.

At the same time, there are some limitations that should be considered in advance. Compared to the more modern 964, the 3.2 feels less suitable for everyday use — especially in terms of ride comfort and susceptibility to body rust, which, like many classics, can be an issue. The driving behavior also remains sporty and somewhat raw, as expected from a vintage car — particularly in combination with the earlier 915 gearbox. Furthermore, due to its design, the original Targa roof is never completely sealed and produces wind noise when closed. For those who frequently drive with the top off, we recommend using an emergency soft top or optionally commissioning a modern, custom-fit synthetic glass roof.
